...Like how Emma's hair is straight at the top and then wavy at the bottom. I have hair exactly the same length but my hair either goes curly or straight.

So does anyone have any ideas how to do that?

Try using hot rollers on the ends, don't roll them all of the way to the scalp. Once cooled, run your fingers through the curls...voila.....
